West Surrey Badger Group Evening Meetings

What's on April - May 2017

Tuesday September 19th - Dr Dawn Scott: Wild furry urbanites

We welcome Dr Dawn Scott, who many of you will have seen on Spring and Autumnwatch. Dawn is a lecturer at the University of Brighton and her teaching and research is focused in the areas of Ecology, Behaviour and Conservation Biology. She is a mammalian biologist and her principal areas of research are focused on the interactions between humans and wildlife. She is also passionate about science communication and citizen science based research approaches. She will talk to us about her radio tracking of foxes and badgers in Brighton.

Tuesday October 17th - Dave Williams Wildlife sound recording,

The name may seem familiar. Not many people know it but Dave is a keen sound recordist and has been to many far flung places in pursuit of wildlife sounds. We will hear recordings of birds, insects and mammals, including badgers, and learn about techniques and equipment.

Tuesday November 21st - Dick Alder: Some funny fungi

Dick calls his presentation "Some Funny Fungi" – it's an introduction to just some of the fascinating species from the 6,000 recorded in Surrey. Fungi are a vital component of all ecosystems but most of us know little about them. Autumn is when we most notice fungi, so this talk is timely.
